County physical access classification

The access classification each county carries in the canonical jurisdiction register: open, constrained, seasonally impassable or security-restricted.

Unit: classification · Measurement: STATUS · Scope: COUNTY · Comparability group: COUNTY_ACCESS_CLASSIFICATION

What this is not

Almost every serious error in operational data is a category error rather than an arithmetic one. These are the things this indicator shares a unit with and must never be combined with.

  • A route status. A county classified open may still be reached only by one road that is cut.
  • A security assessment. Only one classification in the register is security-based; the rest are physical.
  • A live condition. These are register values with no observation date attached.

How current a reading has to be

Current within 120 days, usable within 365 days, measured against the 2026-09-23 build rather than against the time you read this page. A static deployment cannot re-age itself, so the build date is the honest anchor.

County access and food-security classifications are set against a rainy season, not a week. A four-month window covers one seasonal phase; beyond a year the classification describes a different season entirely.

Readings held (78)

SSIP also holds 78 undated readings of this indicator. The register states a classification and records no date for it, so they cannot be aged and are not presented as the current condition.

What SSIP says about it

  • All 78 readings of County physical access classification are undated: the register states a classification but records no date for it. They are published as classifications of record and none may be read as the condition on 2026-09-23.
Rule: An indicator whose every observation lacks a date is reported as such. No date is imputed from the build, from the register's publication, or from a neighbouring dated record.
Does not establish: When any of these classifications was made, or whether it still holds. An undated classification cannot be aged, so it cannot be called current or stale.

What SSIP does not hold

  • The register carries no per-county observation date, so every reading is undated and none may be described as the current condition.
  • A county is never classified open merely because no disruption was reported; the register states a classification explicitly or SSIP records nothing.
  • Counties carry no coordinates in the corpus, so none is placed on a map.

How to read this

Every figure on this page carries an evidence state — Verified, Operational, Announced, Estimated, Inferred, Disputed, Simulated, Reference or Unavailable — and each state has a stated definition. SSIP does not present an estimate as an observation, and it does not record a missing value as zero.
